A survivor of the Holocaust, who came to America as a teen, was drafted into the U.S. Army and eventually served at the former Edgewood Arsenal, was the guest speaker of the Holocaust Days of Remembrance Observance presented by Team APG at the Post Theater May 3.
Maj. Gen. Nick Justice, commander of APG and the U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Command, welcomed Nicholas (Benzion) Attias who told the story of how as a child he was hidden, moved around and protected by others through the darkest years of the Holocaust.
Rabbi Gila Ruskin of the Harford Jewish Center presented the invocation and benediction and Larry Burton of the U.S. Army Research Laboratory was the master of ceremonies. School children from around the community and cadets from the Freestate ChalleNGe Academy attended the program.
